Child1st Sells Multisensory Materials For Kinesthetic Learners

January 19th, 2010

Child1st carefully designs multisensory materials for kinesthetic learners and children with other learning differences. The company focuses on providing only proven solutions for children who learn most easily through kinesthetic and other methods. Because most of Child1st’s products engage all of a child’s senses, the materials enable instructors to help every student to perform at their very best.

Child1st was founded with the goal of creating products that meet each child’s unique learning requirements. The company believes that every child is capable of learning and only requires the right method. By creating solutions and providing educators with tools targeted at kinesthetic learners, tactile learners, children with dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD, Child1st strives to give every child the gift of a love of education and the lifelong benefit of learning to read.

Kinesthetic learners absorb information best if they can move while engaging with new material. Children that are forced to sit still and are taught through passive listening are unable to engage at their highest capacity simply because their brains are not being approached the way they learn most easily. If, however, kinesthetic learners are able to use their hands and bodies as part of the learning process, their attention is properly focused and they learn much more easily and better retain that information. In traditional classrooms, children are asked to sit quietly and learn through auditory means. This practice not only fails kinesthetic learners, but also children that have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia. By including Child1st’s multisensory learning tools, instructors can improve the learning experience of an entire classroom without having to create a special lesson plan for each type of learner, whether visual, kinesthetic, etc.

How do the multisensory products work? Child1st materials teach through story, visuals, and movement, engaging a student’s entire brain and making learning simpler and more successful than it would be through traditional methods. Teachers are able to teach once, and reach all of their students.

The array of Child1st products makes it simple for educators to provide kinesthetic and tactile learning children the materials they require in order to perform at their highest capacity. Its multisensory products for the kinesthetic learner include successful product lines such as SnapLetters™ and SnapWords™, as well as a multisensory phonics reading program.

With the special tools designed for kinesthetic learners, instructors can begin assisting children in discovering a lifetime of successful education. Explore the Child1st online store to learn more about the wide range of products.

Guide and tips on how to learn math and solve word problems fast

January 18th, 2010

Nearly every child has problems when they are asked to solve math word problems. The problems usually occur when students fail to identify the related information. Many math problems are multi-step and require some type of systematic approach. So the key to solving math word problems is to develop a plan or strategy, which works in any math word problem solving situation. The below are the tips and guide for you to follow:

1. Read the entire problem first and ask yourself exactly what type of information is being asked for. Then determine all the information that is being given to you in the question. Since word problems usually contain extra and unnecessary information, you should try to look for clues and important information first and then write down, underline, or highlight the clues or the related information. In this way, the problem will be clearer to you. Some key word clues are as follofws:

a. Addition: sum, total, how many all together, and in all.
b. Subtraction: difference, how much more, how many left, and exceed.
c. Multiplication: product, total, area, and times
d. Division: share, distribute, quotient, and average.

2. Find all of the variables or values in the problem. This will help you get related information from the problem and keep you focused. It can also help you make decision on which equation to be used.

3. Find the question to be answered in the problem. Often the question is directly stated. When it is not stated, you will have to identify the question to be answered.

4. Write the facts you need to answer the question. It is helpful to cross out any unrelated facts. Sometimes, all of facts presented in the problem are needed to answer the question.

5. Ask yourself what computations I must do to answer the question.

6. Set up the problem on paper and do the computations. Check your computations for accuracy and make any needed corrections. Once you have done this, work the problem in reverse or backwards, starting with the answer to see if you can wind up with your original problem.

7. Look at your answer and ask yourself: Is my answer possible? You may find that your answer is not possible because it does not fit with the facts presented in the problem. When this happens, go back through the steps until you arrive at an answer that is possible.

8. The final tip is that if you get stuck on a problem, skip it and go back to it later. Sometimes having a short break will allow you to restart your thinking process and tackle the problem from a different angle.

In conclusion, developing a problem soloving plan is very important, but, to gain even more math problem solving skills, you need to do more practice and take notes of the key points of your practice.

A Look At Carrollton Texas Preschool

January 17th, 2010

Many people who work during the day need to put their young children into daycare. Alternatively, you can choose a preschool which is an option that is more geared towards preparation for school. If that is of interest to you, you should look for a Carrollton Texas preschool.
Day care facilities do not always include activities that are education in nature. Day care centers that are licensed will include activities for developing thinking skills and communication. Even so, education is not their primary focus.
The curriculum provided by this preschool is state certified. It’s well structured curriculum can give your child better education. It helps your kids to catch the right road before starting kindergarten. Well-trained teachers follow this well balanced curriculum. The student to teacher ratio is very less so as to keep the quality of education maintained.
The curriculum is state certified and structured around being able to give your child the best education. This helps prepare them to start down the right road before kindergarten. Offering a well balanced curriculum with properly trained teachers as well as low student to teacher ratio.
Your child’s growth and development will be greatly affected by these highly educated teachers. They will shape your child’s early future in good manner. It will result in the emotional health and moral development of your child. It also lays the foundation for intellectual development and brain growth. The main goal behind all these activities is to nurture and stimulate the growth. Early learning provides all these great advantageous to your child.
Once you have narrowed down your search, go to the preschools to visit them for yourself. This is the chance for you to conduct your own interview and determine if it is a good fit for your child. Ask all the questions you can think of to get a good idea of the experience the school will provide.
The main goal for anyone dealing with infants and kids is to make sure they are protected for anything and everyone that they can or will harm them. In most schools now a days there are cameras and alarms. Due to the alarming rate of pedophiles when you enter a school now a days you are to sign in at the office and have an escort take you to your destination.Getting your child down the right path for a bright future is very critical. Letting them know that learning doesn’t have to always be stressful or unfunny. Just getting your child ready for the world is one of the biggest things you will ever face. Why not let them go to a place that they are going to be safe.

Role of Education in India

January 15th, 2010

Education is undoubtedly one of the most important factors that impact the growth and development of a country as well as the future course of the country’s people as a whole. Education in India annually brings a perfect and successful batch of youth, but in a regrettable number. Indian education have been claimed to follow a tougher and a higher level education in case compared to that of foreign. Though India itself has a teaching quality par excellence but fails to mushroom the brains. Time in memorial epics about teacher student relation in India has been an inspiration here. But following the yore, the respect and understandings do not abide in today’s world. The disciple and teacher are worse.

This has led to a loc in normal education. There is also an immense pressure on both, student and workaholic teachers that abstract the students from proper attainment of education. Following the trend of India, where the secondary choice remains co-curriculum, academics always remain a preference. This sometimes frustrates the students and the parental pressure they feel that they have failed. Hence commitment of suicide is the only way they feel to get rid of this tough world, but they are usually known as looser. Apart from thirty percent looser, bright and intelligent brains from some of the finest institutes are drained out of India. They feel job facilities are better in American and European countries. These countries pay higher remuneration to young, becoming a priority for them. Kipping in mind that education reflects and makes an impact globally, India should not be left behind. The Indian government has realized it and has tried to bring about a change in education system by applying some new ideas.

The introduction of grading in middle school has brought a big relief for the students. Decrement in competition has made students freely discuss about their curriculums. Last year’s October month gave a smile for middle school student but a great pressure for last year students. It is necessary to develop a child mind in the favor of our nation. Because we know that children’s are the future of a growing county. For the bright carrier of a child, guardian should be chosen a better option to begin a child educational journey. In case of providing your child International level education, any one can easily find out such kind of destination over net while searching international schools in India, international schools in Gurgaon, International schools in delhi, international schools gurgaon etc. Concluding with the point that the reformation of education system will bring great revolution will not be agreeable.

This may reduce the pressure of the students but unless and until India goes through a thorough inculcation of India morality of attaining knowledge, nothing can bring a success for this nation. Education is the pillar of our modern day society. As more and more people are getting educated, we are becoming more civilized society. New inventions and discoveries are being done to help people live healthy and comfortable life. Just like other things education also has positive and negative sides. If scientists are using their education for the betterment of mankind, terrorists are using it for destruction. Education induces confidence in people but sometimes in this competitive world it can be a big cause of depression too.

Lancer’s International schools in India is facilitate with well educated teachers, to educate your child with the help of their modern techniques to make your child mind as sharp as they can learn any thing easily. Our school is planning to make unique history from all International school in Delhi.

The Ultimate Halloween Classroom Party

January 15th, 2010

A fun classroom Halloween party starts with captivating classroom decoration. The best classroom decoration ideas create big impact with little effort and expense.

How To Decorate Tables

If you are serving food, use a bright orange paper table cloth to cover the tables. One cool thing about using a solid color like orange is that it allows the children to draw Halloween related things on it. To create a beautiful centerpiece you can simply use an arrangement of white, orange and black balloons. To add additional detail to the centerpiece you can add Halloween images, plasic spiders, and suckers.

Ghosts Made From Streamers

No classroom Halloween party is complete without classroom decorations that hang from the ceiling. In order to keep your students involved you don’t want to do anything too complicated. All you have to do for this craft is start out by using a white rectangular sheet of construction paper and make a tube with a decent size diameter by taping the 2 ends together. Once you have the body of the ghosts completed you can cut some streamers using either crepe paper or white plastic trash bags. Either one works fine so it’s really up to you what you want to use. Next using some tape or glue attach the streamers to the white construction paper. Finally, allow the children to use their imagination and draw some funny faces on the ghosts! Hang five or more streamer ghosts around the classroom.

The Haunted Corner

If you have enough classroom space, create a haunted corner for younger children to go in during the Halloween party.  The haunted corner can be as simple as a lightweight black sheet or piece of fabric hung from ceiling to floor with some scary items behind it. You will definitely want to leave the haunted corner somewhat visible so you can see what’s going on the entire time and keep an eye on your students. Fake spider webs hanging from the entryway to brush the students’ heads when they walk inside or a small table with a bowl full of something slimy are a few ideas for how to decorate the haunted corner.

Activity Tables For Your Party

Set up tables with fun activity choices for the children. Provide small pumpkins that children can paint and then take home. A stack of colorful foam sheets can be used to make Halloween decorations that can be used for many years. Have the students make a background for their decoration by cutting out a good size oval or rectangular shape from one of the foam sheets. Then, give them some stencils of pumkins, ghosts, cats, witches and other Halloween themed stencils allowing them to use their imaginations and creativity to make their own unique Halloween decoration.

Classroom Decorations You Can Eat

Children seem to love doing crafts and activities, and when they are allowed to eat what they worked on when they are finished they seem to enjoy it a lot more! One delicious classroom decorating idea is to allow the children to use tubes of icing to decorate muffins. The spider pop is another edible activity. Have the students cover lollipop tops with squares of black tissue paper. Next, show them how to fasten the tissue paper with four black pipe cleaners wrapped around once so that four legs stick out evenly on either side. They can then put wiggle eyes in the center of the pipe cleaners to make eyes.

These fun classroom decorating ideas for a Halloween party require little more than the classroom craft supplies on hand. All you need is a little bit more food like a fruit tray, some drinks, and a few fun activities, and you are all set to have an awesome classroom Halloween party!

How To Decorate Your Classroom For Autumn

January 15th, 2010

The fall tide brings cool mornings, changing trees, and new ideas for creating classroom decorations inspired by autumn. The theme of trees and leaves are central to the fall season and can be re-created in many classroom decorating ideas.

Falling for a Classroom Tree

Using the themes of trees and leaves to decorate the door of your classroom works really well or if your door does not provide you enough space you can decorate one of the walls in the classroom. The first thing you want to do using either cardboard or brown construction paper is make the trunk and the branches of the tree. You can have the students add detail to the branches and trunk by using paint, colored pencils, or crayons.

After you have the branches and the trunk completed it’s time to begin making the leaves using brown, orange, red, yellow, and green construction paper. You can even create multi-colored leaves by gluing a couple or several of the colors together to show that the leaves are in the process of changing color. Next, have each child write their name on one of the leaves they created and hang the leaves on the branches of the tree using glue, tape, or staples. If you would like to you can even add more detail to the tree by making birds and cats out of construction paper and hanging them up in the tree.

Inspiring with Watercolor Leaves

Watercolors, with their soft, dreamy tones and the gentle bleeding of one color into another, lend themselves perfectly to autumn classroom decorating. One simple craft is to invite your students to create large watercolor paintings on both sides of thick paper, allowing them to dry in between Then cut out the watercolor paintings into the shapes of leaves and hang the leaves from the ceiling or tape them to the windows. The watercolor leaves make really cool classroom decorations!

You can string together some of the small leaves to make a border for the cork board or chalkboard. Mix the watercolor leaves with construction paper leaves to make the garlands more dynamic. There are also some really nice fall themed bulletin board trimmers you can buy if you would rather do that. If you or your students cut extra large leaves, those can be used as a background for autumn poetry.

Decorating With Words

Because fall is the time of year when students return to school, a great way to get their minds moving (while also creating classroom decorations) is by brainstorming. Ask them to think of as many words as they can that remind them of autumn. After you have a nice selection of autumn themed words, use large stencils to draw them onto different colored construction paper. The words can then be cut out and put up around the room or used as classroom door decorations.

Decorating With Squash and Pumpkins

Create a beautiful display by arranging small pumkins, squash or gourds either on shared tables or a side table in the classroom. These veggies will last a long time and bring the bounty of nature into the classroom, as well as enhance your classroom décor with their colorful skins.

These classroom decorating ideas will help get you started on creating an autumn classroom cornucopia. Use bright autumn colors combined with leaf and pumpkin themes to make classroom decorating interesting and fun. Involve your students by having them make watercolor paintings, cut leaves, and share inspirational words.

Fun Classroom Decoration for Halloween

January 15th, 2010

It’s hard to believe but Halloween is already upon us again! It’s time to start thinking about bright orange and black colors, pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons, fun costumes and how you are going to decorate your classroom.

If you are just starting to think about what to do for Halloween in your classroom then you are in luck because there are some neat ideas below to help get you started. Even if you already have almost everthing all planned out you can still get some new, fresh ideas!

Huge Web and Spider On the Wall

A large, blank wall needs large decorations.  If you have a large wall in your classroom, start with a giant spider web. It is really pretty simple to make a cool looking spider web. All you need is some yarn in a color that will show up nicely against the wall you are using. Pick six points on the wall for attachment. A few good reference points are the hour hands on clock of 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2. Then, simply cut 3 pieces of yarn making sure they are long enough to connect two of the points you made previously that are opposite each other. For Example, the point close to the twelve hour hand should go down to the spot at the six hour hand and so on. After the 3 pieces are attached you should have something that resembles an asterisk. Next, working in a spiral from the outside to the inside, attatch the yarn at each of the 6 points with tape or adhesive until you have at least three spirals. You may have several more spirals depending on the size of your wall.

Once you have the web done, it’s time to create the spider. The spider should be black and can be any size and shape. You can cut the body out of black construction paper and then use long black pipe cleaners to make the legs. You can also make the legs out of black construction paper by cutting long rectangles and then folding them accordion-style to give the spider dimension. Once the spider is put together, attach her to the web.

If you would like to you can just create the one big spider, but it can also be a fun to let your students to make tons of small spiders out of pom-poms and pipe cleaners!

Fun Scenes of Halloween

One classroom door decoration idea is to make Halloween scenes out of colored felt or construction paper and attach them to the door. The scenes need not be scary, but warm and inviting, drawing the children inside. A kitty with a pumpkin, friendly ghosts, skeletons with top hats, or a big moon with a fence silhouette are just a few ideas to get you started. Use simple shapes and contrasting colors to make a delightful variety of mini-scenes for decorating your classroom door.  You can easily turn this into a fun project for children, whether you ask them to cut out the simple shapes or give them the ability to make the Halloween scene.

Skeletons Everywhere

A border of cut out skeletons can wrap all the way around the upper wall of your classroom. You can create the skeletons in a paper doll style, with multiple layers of white construction paper cut out all at once so they are attached after you unfold the paper.

One more idea is to have the children cut out the bones of small skeletons, connect the bones together with brass fasteners and then hang them around the perimeter of the classroom. Children can be creative by putting the arms and legs of their skeletons in different positions or even hanging them upside down!

Motivating classroom decorations are an important part of making a classroom where students are motivated to learn. If you would like to involve your students in classroom decoration, many lessons can be incorporated into simple classroom decorating ideas like anatomy, spelling, math and social studies.

Jennifer Dobson asks you to visit one of the many teacher supply stores to get resource books, classroom decorations, school furniture, classroom carpet, educational toys, and much more. Choosing the right child care center for your child is a very personal decision that should be thought about and talked over amongst the family.

It is also vital that you choose a child care center that provides you with the peace of mind you need to feel as though your child is safe and well taken care of. Preparing NCERT Revision Notes to suit your learning style

January 12th, 2010

NCERT Revision Notes

During my school days, attending to my teacher’s lectures in class was easy but having to study from lengthy NCERT revision notes would leave me in jitters. Often I used to wonder, what it is in these wordy NCERT revision notes that makes me so uncomfortable. Is there a problem with the language? Or is it the volume of the NCERT revision notes that puts me off? Or am I genuinely a slow learner? Years down the line I understood that the problem was not with the notes but with my learning style. I have always been a visual learner i.e. a learner who understands and learns better using visual cues. However, I have been forcing myself to learn through material that is typically auditory, namely class lectures!

In order to gain maximum results from the revision exercises, it is very important for students to identify the learning style that suits them the best and accordingly prepare their NCERT revision notes. Learning style can be defined as the manner in which one learns and processes information. Following is a description of the different learning styles and some pointers on the kind of NCERT revision notes that one should prepare. Identify your learning style and prepare your ideal NCERT revision notes that will help you perform better at exams.

Visual Learners- These are the type of learners who prefer learning using visual aids. Mind maps, clearly labeled and neatly drawn illustrations, colour-highlighted notes and most significantly 3D videos can all act as a catalyst to their learning process. While preparing the NCERT revision notes, visual learners should make it a point to support the text in their NCERT revision notes with any of the above mentioned visual cues for effective learning. Visual learners can even surf the internet for multimedia enriched 3D study videos to understand complicated concepts. There are a lot of such websites that provide visual content in line with the curriculum in school and thereby make the process of learning effective and schooling easy.

Verbal Learners- Reading study material out aloud, discussing concepts in study groups and other oral activities, when incorporated into the revision exercise of verbal learners can add an instant kick to their learning and memorizing process. It is recommended that verbal learners accompany their NCERT revision notes with pre-recorded tapes or real life videos explaining concepts. Students can find such videos online on a variety of websites. Incase you do not have an access to the internet most of the times you can reinforce all that you have learnt by teaching out aloud as you would do to a class!

Reflective Learners- These types of learners perform best when they are given time to think and understand concepts. Therefore, reflective learners should start the process of preparing NCERT revision notes well in advance. It is also suggested that while preparing their NCERT revision notes, reflective learners should prepare their own summaries and overviews of the topics at hand.

Intuitive Learners- The pace at which an intuitive learner grasps concepts can be rather fast at times. It is only natural therefore, that such learners completely dislike repetitions and revision sessions. However, keeping in mind the importance of the revision activity, it is suggested that they prepare their NCERT revision notes in the form of tables, keyword summaries, mind maps etc. These short and to-the-point NCERT revision notes will help them in speedy revision and prevent boredom.

Sequential Learner- Memorizing and revising in a step by step fashion is the prime characteristic of sequential learners. Hence, while preparing NCERT revision notes sequential learners should lay emphasis on systematically covering each topic in a logical manner and avoid jumping to and fro topics.

I hope that you have been able to get some insight into the kind of learner that you are and understand what exactly will work for you. So, the next time you prepare your NCERT revision notes try and incorporate the essential points mentioned in the article above and you will realize that achieving good marks will no longer remain a dream.
